MDI was founded in 1987 as the first company to design, manufacture and operate a mobile cardiac catheterization lab. As the founding pioneer of an industry, MDI grew the idea of a mobile cath lab on a weekly route into the well-known industry of mobile cath labs. Recognizing a distinct need in the marketplace, MDI shifted its focus from running cath labs on a route to providing interim labs for monthly rental to hospitals during in-house renovations and upgrades. This remains our primary focus today.

MDI’s mobile labs proved ideally suited for short-term use, but our longer-term customers were expressing a need for more space. That is when the innovation of MDI was again displayed as we designed the first modular cardiac cath lab, offering 12 and 14 foot widths along the entire length of the lab. These labs are an ideal solution for long-term needs.

MDI’s final, and perhaps most innovative, product is designed for hospitals renovating or upgrading but lacking adequate space on-site for a mobile or modular lab. Again the creativity of MDI solved the problem by offering the lease of a complete cath lab, installed by MDI, in an existing room in the hospital. We call this solution “pre-staged” as all the equipment is staged in our technology center and completely tested prior to arriving at your site.

As our company continued to grow, so did the capability of our staff. Our factory trained, highly experienced technicians developed the concept of "single call issue resolution" providing hospitals the ability to place one call to MDI with any issue and to be confident it will be resolved immediately and thoroughly.
