There are a number of things that make Modular Devices such a great place to work – our people, our culture, and the work we do, to name a few. But outside of the normal day-to-day operations of running Mobile Cath Labs and mobile CT labs business, one of the great things about Modular Devices is that we take an active role in supporting philanthropic causes that are important to our clients and valued employees.INDIANAPOLIS TS ALLIANCEOne such example is our support for the annual Indianapolis TS Alliance benefit golf outing. This is a benefit that I am involved with, and that’s personal to me, because one of my dearest and oldest friends has a child that was born with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) more than 12 years ago. What is Tuberous Sclerosis? Well, that’s exactly what I said when I heard the news because while it’s not an uncommon disease, it is one that most have never heard of before. You can read more about it here. Basically, it’s a disease that causes tumors to show up in various organs (heart, kidneys, brain, etc.) at various times. These tumors can affect the development and function of the organs. In my friend’s case, TS struck in utero and affected the function of his son’s heart, which caused a whole other set of developmental issues as he’s grown. As a way to help raise awareness and the funds needed to someday find a cure for TS, some others and I decided to host a local charity golf outing, and for the past six years, Modular Devices has been the main sponsor of the event. I’m happy to say that my friend’s son is doing well at this time, although he still faces an uphill battle, but thanks in part to the generous support of Modular Devices we have raised more than $25,000 for the TS Alliance through this event.
LAPEL EAGLES BENEFIT RIDE
Another employee-drive cause that MDI supports is the Lapel Eagles Benefit Ride, a benefit for two young boys diagnosed with a form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma. Mike Clouse was instrumental in raising money for the Lapel Eagles Benefit Ride – where our contribution helped raise more than $35,000 for their cause.
OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS
- Just recently, MDI donated materials to Mike so that he and others could build a wheelchair ramp for a disabled person in need.
- In a previous post we highlighted the Lapel youth football program, and the fire that destroyed their building and scoreboard last year. Modular Devices donated a new scoreboard, and it was great to see Tony’s excitement when the scoreboard was installed just in time for the new season to begin.
We have the good fortune to work with some great clients across the country when we are partnering on lab projects, and we, in turn will give back and support various fundraising efforts that they have. These range from capital campaign funds, to hospital foundation fundraising, to endowments and charity events. At Modular Devices it’s important to us to give back, to take an active role in the communities we’re in and to support the philanthropic causes of our employees and clients.
